Nicaragua is planning to auction off a number of offshore oil exploration blocks in southwestern Caribbean. Colombia is voicing strong protest but, according to its foreign ministry, it has not received any response on the issue from the Nicaraguan authorities. Dr. George Conyne, of UK's University of Kent, talked with the Voice of Russia about how lucrative the disputed areas are and the ways Nicaragua can proceed with oil exploration in the region without violating international agreements.
